SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the technical field of rewinding devices for the production of logs formed from paper material. A method for controlling a pre-scoring device in a paper material log making machine, comprising a paper material log rewinding machine. In this case, the said device is made with at least a first rotating element or a first roller (RS), which interacts with a second element or a counter knife (FB) to form a sequence of pre-cut lines on the web of paper material by means of at least one knife (RB). The method includes the following working steps: execution and installation of the device for pre-notching when installing relative to each other and adjusting the specified first (RS) and second (FB) elements; activating the device for precutting while measuring the resulting vibrations associated with the interaction between the specified first and the specified second elements; storing at least a value or a set of values related to the specified vibration measurement, corresponding to the optimal or basic operating configuration of the device. During the operation of the specified installation, the measurement of vibration parameters resulting from the interaction between the specified first (RS) and second (FB) elements, and comparison with the specified value or a set of values related to the basic operating configuration, with the issuance of a signal if there is a discrepancy between the measured parameter and reference value or set of reference values.

EFFECT: decrease in defects in the produced logs is provided, increase in the duration of the machine operation due to a decrease in the wear of the knives.
