FIELD: mining industry.

SUBSTANCE: conveyor system includes a sprocket, a conveyor element, a sensor, a tension system and an electronic processor. The conveyor element is connected to the sprocket to move around the sprocket. The sensor is installed adjacent to the sprocket and is made with the possibility to generate an output signal indicating the detection of the conveyor element. The electronic processor is connected to the sensor and the tension system. The electronic processor is made with the possibility to receive an output signal from the sensor, calculate the trajectory of the conveyor element based on the output signal, determine the value for the sagging arrow based on the calculated trajectory of the conveyor element and control the tension system based on the value for the sagging arrow.

EFFECT: detecting conveyor tension.
