SUBSTANCE: group of inventions is described, including a method for predicting increased resistance of steelhead trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) to infectious pancreatic necrosis (hereinafter – IPN) and a method for selecting steelhead trout with increased resistance to infectious pancreatic necrosis. In one of the embodiments of the invention, a method for predicting increased resistance of steelhead trout to infectious pancreatic necrosis includes determining the presence of at least one allele reporting resistance to IPN (“IPN resistance allele”) in the genome of the specified steelhead trout, where the specified at least one IPN resistance allele is a single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) allele.

EFFECT: invention expands the arsenal of tools for predicting the increased resistance of steelhead trout to infectious pancreatic necrosis.
