SUBSTANCE: method for transforming a sofa bed and a sofa bed for implementing the method refers to sofa beds that can be transformed from a sitting position to a lying position and back by means of transformation mechanisms. In the method, the fixing rods (10, 11) are moved along the grooves (8, 9), which are located at the first ends (13, 15) of the grooves (8, 9), which corresponds to the "folded" position, or are located at the second ends (11, 12) grooves (8, 9), which corresponds to the “unfolded” position. The sofa bed contains at least two transformation mechanisms (7), made in the form of at least two grooves (8, 9), and at least two fixing rods (10, 11), installed with the ability to move and fix in the grooves (8, 9), while the ratio of the width of each groove (8, 9) to the diameter of the corresponding fixing rod (10, 11) is approximately 1.05 - 2.0.

EFFECT: creation of a sofa bed with a transformation mechanism that provides ease of movement and secure fixation of the seat and backrest in the "folded" and "unfolded" positions and back.
