FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nonferrous metallurgy, and in particular to a method for processing magnesium-containing waste of titanium-magnesium production. The method includes loading solid magnesium-containing waste into a crucible with molten salts, melting them in molten salts, settling the melt and separating magnesium. Magnesium-containing waste is loaded in portions into a crucible with a molten salt containing 5-15% magnesium chloride, 10-40% sodium chloride and 45-85% potassium chloride. Melting in a molten salt is carried out at a temperature of 660-710°C with the addition of flux, with a mass ratio of flux to molten salts equal to (0.01-0.1):1, and with a mass ratio of molten salts to magnesium-containing waste equal to (1-5):1.

EFFECT: invention allows increasing the degree of magnesium extraction from magnesium-containing waste of titanium-magnesium production up to 97.7-99%, reduces the amount of waste and energy costs.
