FIELD: rubber band applying methods.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an apparatus and method for applying a first rubber band to a first edge of a cords-reinforced ply, wherein the apparatus comprises a ply support for supporting the cords-reinforced ply and a first tape support that forms an elongated first zone for the tape, extending longitudinally to provide support for the first rubber band with respect to the layer support, wherein the first belt support comprises a first retaining element for holding the first portion of the first rubber band below the first edge, and a first folding member that is pivotable relative to the first holding member about a first centerline of folding from a horizontal position to a folded position in which it is opposite the first holding member with respect to the reference plane for folding the second portion of the first rubber band around the first edge.
EFFECT: invention allows increasing the accuracy of applying the rubber band.
