SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to thoracic surgery. The flap of the pectoralis major muscle is isolated with the preservation of its blood supply by the branches of the thoracoacromial artery. The size of the flap is determined so that it completely covers the wound defect of the lung. A part of the rib is resected below the thoracotomy wound for 5 cm. The flap is moved into the pleural cavity and placed over the lung defect. The flap is fixed with nodular absorbable ligatures along the periphery to the visceral pleura, first passing the needle through the entire thickness of the flap, retreating 5 mm from its edge, and then through the visceral pleura of the lung, retreating 5 mm from the edge of the wound defect.

EFFECT: method reduces the traumatic nature of the operation, prevents the eruption of sutures when straightening the lung in the postoperative period, increases the reliability of suturing the lung defect.
