FIELD: working of metal.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an apparatus for hardening by a strain wave of a deposited metal material and can find an application for manufacturing and restoring by surfacing of parts and tools. The apparatus comprises a pulse generator and a straining tool in the form of a rod roller, mounted on a waveguide. The pulse generator is intended for hardening by static-pulse treatment with shock strain waves, forming a heterogeneously hardened structure alternating solid and plastic sections in all directions due to a rod roller consisting of curvilinear sections with equal or varying radii of curvature. The profile of each section can be made annular, toroidal, or radial, or helical.
EFFECT: technical result of the invention consists in improving the quality of the deposited metal material, contributing to increasing the durability of the products.
