FIELD: composite materials.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a curable film-forming composition for applying a coating onto a substrate. The composition is comprised of: (a) a polymer binder containing reactive functional groups contained in an amount of 25 to 90% wt. relative to the total weight of resin solids in the curable film-forming composition, (b) a curing agent containing functional groups reacting with the reactive functional groups (a), contained in an amount of 5 to 75% wt. relative to the total weight of the resin solids in the curable film-forming composition, and (c) a polysiloxane resin containing aromatic functional groups and terminal hydroxyl groups, contained in an amount of no less than 0.5% wt. relative to the total weight of the resin solids in the curable film-forming composition, wherein the polysiloxane resin (c) is produced from a polysiloxane resin with terminal amino functional groups reacted with cyclic carbonate so that the polysiloxane resin (c) has urethane bonds and terminal hydroxyl groups or the polysiloxane resin (c) is produced from a polysiloxane resin with methoxy functional groups reacted with a polyol so that the polysiloxane resin (c) has an ether Si-O-C bond and a terminal hydroxyl group and the total amount of components (a), (b) and (c) constitutes 100%. The curable film-forming composition can additionally comprise a rheology modifier containing a non-aqueous dispersion of an internally crosslinked organic polymer, a silica dispersion containing silica dispersed in a medium containing an acrylic polyol, and/or a product of a reaction between an amine and an isocyanate. Also provided are coated substrates including the described curable film-forming compositions, and methods for forming a composite coating on a substrate.

EFFECT: horizontal/vertical uniformity of the coating in complex shapes and contours exhibiting a tendency for sagging and smudging of paint during coating, providing an optimal balance of resistance against sagging and appearance of the coating.
