FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to oncology, and can be used to treat patients with early stage squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus. Resection of the esophageal mucosa is performed with dissection in the submucous layer by endoscopic access, followed by radiation therapy. In this case, sessions of intraluminal radiation therapy (brachytherapy) are carried out on the bed of the removed tumor with a high dose rate of a radioactive source 192Ir192 with a single focal dose of 4 Gy, 7 fractions, with an interval between fractions of 7 days, up to a total focal dose of 28 Gy.
EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the effectiveness of treatment of patients with early esophageal cancer due to the claimed brachytherapy technique.
