FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to gastroenterology, and can be used in clinical laboratory practice in determining the risk of ulcerative colitis (UC) recurrence. A method for predicting the risk of ulcerative colitis (UC) recurrence includes identifying an inflammatory process in the colon. In this case, the level of neopterin (NP) value is detected in the patient's blood. If its value is more than 20 nmol/l, a high risk of developing UC recurrence is determined, with an increased value of NP from 10 nmol/l to 19 nmol/l - an average risk of developing UC recurrence, and if a value of less than 10 nmol/l - a low risk the development of recurrent UC.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to significantly reduce the time for predicting the risks of UC recurrence by reducing the amount of follow-up examination, to reliably construct a patient's treatment tactics, to shorten the hospitalization period by expanding the information content and differential diagnosis of indicators.
