SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in diesel engines. The method for increasing the period of controlled combustion is carried out in a diesel engine, which has high pressure fuel lines and nozzles as part of the fuel equipment. An increase in the period of controlled combustion is achieved by heating a cyclic portion of fuel injected into the combustion chambers of a diesel engine to a temperature equal to the boil-off of its 50% fraction by installing electrodes with a high voltage potential. The electrodes create an electric spark discharge to the walls of the fuel line at the inlet to the nozzle.

EFFECT: reducing emissions of toxic substances into the atmospheric air with exhaust gases.
