FIELD: optical elements production.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the method for producing plano-convex terahertz optical elements from silica-based opal consists in obtaining a workpiece by sedimentation of amorphous silica particles in a container, drying and sintering annealing at temperatures from 900 to 1200°С. The bottom of the container has a concave shape inverted to the shape of the convex surface of the element, the mass of particles in the container is taken equal to or greater than the mass of particles forming an element of a given shape, the diameter of the container is 1.03 - 1.27 times the diameter of the element. The convex surface of the element can consist of inclined edges and/or cones, the angles of the edges and the generatrix of the cones of the container bottom are equal to the corresponding corners of the finished element, or the convex surface of the element can be part of a sphere, the diameter of the corresponding spherical surface of the container bottom is 1.03 - 1.27 times larger than the surface diameter of the finished element.

EFFECT: increasing productivity of obtaining optical elements of the THz range and increasing the yield of the usable one.
