FIELD: mining.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods and systems for controlling the direction of sinking of a mining machine, when a mining machine performs a cutting operation. The system contains a cutting system of the mining machine, a set of tracks of the mining machine, containing a left track and a right track. A lidar sensor is installed on the mining machine, wherein the lidar sensor is made with the possibility of emitting a light pulse to a surface of previously cut mine working and receiving the light pulse reflected back from the surface of previously cut mine working. An electronic processor is made with the possibility to: receive data from the lidar sensor based on the light pulse received by the lidar sensor, determine the current direction of sinking of the mining machine based on data received from the lidar sensor, compare the current direction of sinking with the direction to a target of sinking of the mining machine, in response to the current direction of sinking, which is different from the direction to the target of sinking of the mining machine by a set value, control the mining machine to adjust the current direction of sinking of the mining machine, while an electronic processor is made with the possibility to control the mining machine to adjust the current direction of sinking of the mining machine by controlling at least one selected from a group consisting of the left track and the right track.

EFFECT: technical result is an increase in the positioning accuracy of the cutting machine.
