SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an aerosol-generating system, a method for identifying the user of the system, an electrical circuit for the electrically controlled aerosol-generating system, and a non-volatile machine-readable storage medium. The system comprises an electrically controlled heating system for heating said aerosol-generating source material, a flow channel intended for transmission of the aerosol-containing flow to the user. The heating system is in fluid communication with the flow channel. The system comprises an electrical circuit for measuring the change in the parameter associated with the heating system due to the cooling effect impacting the heating system from the user inhaling through the flow channel, for determining the characteristic of inhalation based on the measured parameter associated with the heating system, and for identifying the user based on the determined characteristic.
EFFECT: possibility to use the heating system of the aerosol-generating apparatus as an air flow rate sensor instead of a special separate flow sensor, reduction in the manufacturing costs and the complexity of the apparatus are provided.
