SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of computer technology for processing audio signals. The expected result is achieved by decoding audio data to generate a decoded audio signal in the low-frequency band; extracting high-frequency recovery metadata from the encoded audio bitstream; filtering the decoded audio signal in the low-frequency band to generate a filtered audio signal in the low-frequency band; regeneration of a part of the high-frequency band of the audio signal using a filtered audio signal in the low-frequency band and high-frequency recovery metadata, wherein the regeneration of a part of the high-frequency band of the audio signal includes spectral transfer if the patch insertion mode parameter has the first value, and the regeneration of a part of the high-frequency band of the audio signal includes harmonic transposition by expanding the frequency of the phase vocoder if the patch insertion mode parameter has the second value. 
EFFECT: improved replication of the spectral range.
