FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing benzyl butyl ether, which is widely used in the perfumery, cosmetic and food industries. The method consists in the reaction of benzyl alcohol with n-butanol in the presence of a catalyst, a catalytic system consisting of an H-Ymmm zeolite and an H-Ymmm (CuBr2/H-Ymmm) zeolite modified with copper (II) bromide (CuBr2 / H-Ymmm) is used, and the reaction is carried out in a flow-through tubular reactor with a volumetric feed rate of 0.42-1.68 h-1, at a temperature of 140-160°C and a molar ratio of benzyl and n-butyl alcohols equal to 1:4.
EFFECT: optimization of benzyl butyl ether production.
