FIELD: organic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of organic chemistry, namely to a method for producing mono-methylquinolines, widely used in the manufacture of medicines, fungicides and herbicides, metal corrosion inhibitors, extractants and sorbents, dyes and high-boiling solvents. The method consists in the interaction of ethylene glycol with aniline in the presence of granular zeolite H-Y-mmm of a high degree of crystallinity, having a hierarchical (micro-meso-macro-porous) structure, at 350-450°C, the volume feed rate of raw materials (w) 2-3 h-1, the molar ratio of aniline:ethylene glycol, equal to 1:1-3, in nitrogen, at atmospheric pressure, ethylene glycol is fed into the reactor in the form of a 20% solution.
EFFECT: simple, effective heterogeneous-catalytic method for the synthesis of monomethylquinolines has been developed, which reduces the energy and material consumption of the heterocyclization process.
