FIELD: ferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of ferrous metallurgy, in particular to steel melting in electric arc furnace. Scrap metal and liquid cast iron are fed into the furnace as a metal charge, scrap metal is melted, slag-forming lime and magnesia materials are added, oxygen is purged, coke powder is injected, melting is released, while after pouring liquid cast iron, a brusite-containing flux consisting of 70-95 masses is added as a magnesia material. % of magnesium hydroxide and 5-30 mass.% of impurities, with a flow rate varying depending on the proportion of liquid cast iron for melting, in amount of 1-3 kg / ton of steel for every 10% of cast iron poured by weight of the metal charge.
EFFECT: invention makes possible to reduce phosphorus content in metal, reduce wear of the furnace lining and consumption of materials for hot repairs.
