FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the processes of producing synthetic polycrystalline diamonds. The method for detonation synthesis of polycrystalline diamonds is implemented by exploding a charge in the centre of a sealed explosive chamber in an ice shell or in a water shell. The charge is made of a mixture of graphite with hexogen and/or octogen at a graphite content of 20%. After the explosion, the resulting suspension of diamonds in water is extracted from the chamber into a settling tank. After settling, the deposition is pressed out on a centrifuge and purified from metal oxides and non-diamond carbon or dried.
EFFECT: invention provides a possibility of increasing the average size of aggregates of a modified detonation polycrystalline diamond (MDPD) to 10-12 mcm.
