SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a reactor for irradiation with electromagnetic waves (EMW) for continuous conditioning of materials capable of absorbing electromagnetic emission, requiring treatment with electromagnetic irradiation without contact with an electromagnetic source. In particular, the present invention is aimed at treatment of materials generally prone to reflecting such emissions that are translucent, or difficult to permeate the radiation, or simply unclean. The tubular reactor (1, 1΄) for irradiation with EMW (electromagnetic waves) comprises pairs of opposing EMW emission sources consisting of an external source (10) and an internal source (8), each containing no less than one EMW emitter, an external source (10) surrounding the outer wall of the outer pipe (2) with the EMW emission surface of the external source, facing into the reactor, an internal source (8) surrounding the inner wall of the inner tube with the EMW emission surface of the internal source, facing the external side of the reactor, wherein the emission sources emit EMW with wavelengths in the range between ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) rays in order to emit perpendicularly relative to the longitudinal direction (L) of the material subject to processing, flowing in the gap (6). Also disclosed is a variant of a plate reactor.
