FIELD: computing technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of computing technology for processing audio signals. The technical result is achieved by receiving an encoded audio bitstream containing audio data representing the part of the audio signal attributed to the lower range and the metadata of the high-frequency reconstruction; decoding the audio data to generate a decoded lower-range audio signal; extracting the high-frequency reconstruction metadata from the encoded audio bitstream; filtering the decoded lower-range audio signal to generate a filtered lower-range audio signal; restoring the audio signal attributed to the upper range using the filtered lower-range audio signal and the high-frequency reconstruction metadata; and combining the filtered lower-range audio signal with the restored part attributed to the upper range to form a broadband audio signal, wherein filtering, restoration and combining are performed as a post-processing operation with a delay of 3,010 discrete values per audio channel.

EFFECT: increase in the quality of audio processing at low data transfer rates.
