FIELD: audio technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for processing audio signals. An encoded audio bitstream is received, which contains audio data representing the part of the audio signal related to the lower range, and metadata of the reconstruction of high frequencies. Decoding of audio data is performed to generate a decoded audio signal of the lower range. High-frequency reconstruction metadata is extracted from the encoded audio bitstream, these high-frequency reconstruction metadata contain operating parameters for the high-frequency reconstruction process. The operating parameters include an insertion mode parameter located in a backward compatible extension container of the encoded audio bitstream. The first value of the insertion mode parameter indicates spectral transfer, and the second value of the insertion mode parameter indicates harmonic transposition using frequency range stretching by a phase vocoder. Filtering of the decoded audio signal of the lower range is performed to generate a filtered audio signal of the lower range.

EFFECT: increase in the efficiency of reconstruction of audio signal high frequencies.
