FIELD: computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering for processing audio diode data. Result is achieved due to the following steps: extraction of high-frequency reconstruction metadata from the encoded audio bitstream, said high-frequency reconstruction metadata contain operating parameters for the high-frequency reconstruction process, operating parameters include an insertion mode parameter located in a backward compatible extension container of the encoded audio bitstream, wherein the first insertion mode parameter value indicates spectral transfer, and the second insertion mode parameter value indicates harmonic transposition using frequency band stretching by a phase vocoder; filtering the decoded low-band audio signal to generate a filtered low-band audio signal; and restoring the high-band portion of the audio signal using the low-band filtered audio signal and the high-frequency reconstruction metadata, wherein recovery includes spectral transfer, if the insertion mode parameter has a first value, and restoration includes harmonic transposition using frequency band stretching with a phase vocoder, if the insertion mode parameter has a second value.
EFFECT: high accuracy of reconstructing high frequencies of an audio signal.
