SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of grinding of material. The upper body of the gyratory crusher is proposed, containing an annular body wall passing around the axis and containing radially outward and inward facing surfaces, axial upper and lower annular ends. Mounting holes of the crushing shell pass axially through the wall to the lower annular end to receive clamping bolts for fixing the crushing shell inside the upper housing. The radial thickness of the annular wall on the hardened sections passing in the circumferential direction between and in the axial position of the axial upper end of the mounting holes is greater than the radial thickness of the annular wall in the position of each mounting hole in the circumferential direction. A traverse contains ribs radially extending outward from the sleeve located on the longitudinal axis passing through the upper body to the axial upper annular end of the wall. The mounting holes are distributed circumferentially around the wall, being located in sections not axially under the central section in the circumferential direction radially of the outer end of each of the ribs. The width of each of the ribs in the plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and in the direction radially inward increases in the corresponding transition sections of the connection with the sleeve. The shape of the transition sections in a plane perpendicular to the axis is generally rectilinear conical or generally convex, and the transition sections end in the outward-facing surface of the sleeve.
