FIELD: railway transport.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of repair of wheelsets of railway transport without removing bogies. The method is characterised by the fact that the car is moved along the rails until the body thereof interacts with a buffer stop, and installed over a servicing pit, the distance a between the end of the bogie with the wheelset and the front surface of the buffer stop is measured, and then while the current lifting height of the car is continuously measured, the car is lifted to a height x determined from the ratio: x = (a + b + c – d)⋅tgα – f – R + e, wherein b is the distance to the side of the bogie from the axis of the set, c is the distance between the front surface of the buffer stop and the plane of the front end of the servicing pit, d is the distance from the top of the cutter of the wheel turning machine placed in the pit to the front end of the pit, e is the distance from the top of the cutter of the wheel turning machine to the bottom of the pit, f is the distance from the surface of the rails to the bottom of the pit, R is the average radius of wheels of the machined set, α is the inclination angle of the line of movement of the top of the cutter of the machine relative to the horizontal plane.

EFFECT: use of the invention provides a possibility of increasing the accuracy of positioning the wheelset, thereby providing an increase in the quality of turning thereof.
