FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of non-ferrous metallurgy and is intended for the production of metal matrix composites used in the manufacture of products for the automotive industry, railway transport, military and aerospace equipment. The method for producing an aluminum matrix composite includes mixing and homogenization of aluminum powder and vanadium oxide, V2O5, tableting and sintering in an inert gas atmosphere, while mixing and homogenization is carried out by impregnating aluminum powder with a particle size of no more than 10 mcm with a gel of nominal composition V2O5:H2O with a vanadium content of 3.08-3.36, wt. %, with the ratio of gel and aluminum powder equal to (3.36-16.8 g):(9.8 - 9.0 g), followed by exposure to air at a temperature of 80-85°C for 1 hour and heating to a temperature of 350-400°C with exposure at this temperature for 0.5 hours, and sintering is carried out at a temperature of 800-820°C.
EFFECT: invention provides effective homogenization of the initial components under normal conditions without the use of high-energy grinding plants in an inert atmosphere, which greatly simplifies the technology.
