SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method for determining the orientation of the head of the user by means of an oral care apparatus, an oral care apparatus configured to determine the orientation of the head of the user, a method for issuing feedback about a brushing session. The method for determining the orientation of the head of the user by means of an oral care apparatus includes the following stages: providing an oral care apparatus containing a head of the apparatus, at least one sensor and a controller, tracking the oral care apparatus during use without the orientation of the head at the beginning of the brushing session and/or without measuring the orientation of the head at the beginning of the brushing session, determining when the head of the apparatus is located within the calibration area in the mouth of the user, and evaluating the orientation of the head of the user by means of the controller based on the orientation of the head of the apparatus within the calibration area.
EFFECT: improved tracking of the oral care apparatus during use, including determining the orientation of the head of the user using data from a sensor.
