SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine, namely to a method, device and system for determining the location of gum inflammation in the user’s mouth using an oral care device. In the implementation of the method, light is emitted by light emitters of the oral care device. Reflections from the surface of each of places in the user’s mouth are detected using a light detector of the oral care device to generate reflection data for each of places. It is determined, which of places contain gums, while assigning weight to generated reflection data for at least some of places. It is determined, using a controller of the oral care device, which of places contain gums. The stage of determining, which of places contain gums includes discarding reflection data for places identified as not containing gums. At the stage of discarding reflection data for places identified as not containing gums, reflectivity ratios are formed for each of places. The ratio of reflectivity contains the measured value for the first wavelength from reflection data relatively to the measured value for the second wavelength from reflection data. The formed ratio of reflectivity is compared with a given threshold value. Reflection data is discarded for each of places, for which the formed ratio of reflectivity is below the specified threshold value. It is determined, using the controller, for each of places, whether the gum is inflamed in this place. The user is provided with information about the inflamed place or places by means of a user interface of the oral care device. Device (10) contains light emitters, light detectors, controller (30), user interface (46). Light emitters are made with the possibility of emitting light to places in the user’s mouth. Light detectors are made with the possibility of generating data on reflection from the surface at each of places. The controller is made with the possibility of determining for each of places, whether the gum is inflamed in this place, and with the possibility of determining for each of places, whether this place contains the gum. The user interface is made with the possibility of providing the user with information about the inflamed place or places. The system for determining the location of inflammation contains light emitters, light detectors, a controller, and a user interface. The controller contains a module for detecting and determining the location of inflammation to determine for each of places that are identified as containing gum, whether the gum is inflamed in this place, wherein the controller is made with the possibility of determining, which of places contain gums.

EFFECT: method, device and system for determining the location of gum inflammation in the user’s mouth are provided, while due to increasing the signal-to-noise ratio, improved detection of localized gum inflammation is achieved.
