FIELD: image data processing.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an image processing apparatus and an image capturing apparatus, wherein each one has an image stabilisation function for reducing (correcting) the blurriness of the image. The result is achieved by the fact that the image processing apparatus forms image data for recording by capturing an image through an optical image capturing system and adds information to the image data for recording. When the optical image capturing system is an anamorphic optical system, the apparatus adds the information on the compression ratio of the anamorphic optical system and the information indicating the central position of the anamorphic optical system in each of the frame images composing the image data for recording to the image data for recording.

EFFECT: provided image stabilisation processing and correction processing based on the image data obtained by capturing an image using an anamorphic objective.
