FIELD: ferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ferrous metallurgy, namely, to secondary treatment of cast iron or steel melts with wire with fillers from active reagents. The wire consists of a filler and a steel shell with a thickness of more than 0.8 mm. Teeth are provided on the longitudinal edges of the steel shell, notched so as to form a lock when the longitudinal edges of the shell overlap between the teeth. The wire is sealed due to plastic deformation occurring when the lock is compressed under the impact of rollers.
EFFECT: invention provides a possibility of producing a sealed wire with a shell with a thickness of more than 0.8 mm and a filler, either from a monolithic rod, e.g., calcium or magnesium, or from any powder materials, and eliminates the variation in the composition of the filler during secondary treatment of the melt.
