FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy and can be used for out-of-furnace treatment of molten iron or steel with wire with various active components. Method comprises making a calcium-containing wire for processing metallurgical melts, containing a hermetically sealed metal shell more than 0.6 mm thick with filler. As a filler, a cylindrical calcium-containing rod is used, and the formation of the metal shell is carried out by layers, the edges of each layer are joined step by step in the profiling cages by folded locks, the thickness of each layer is between 0.3 and 0.8 mm. Shell layers are made of dissimilar metals, which have different functional purposes.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce the deformation force when the wire enters the melt and prevents oxidation and ignition of active reagents in the production of a thick-walled wire.
