FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ferrous metallurgy, particularly, to out-of-furnace treatment of melts of cast iron or steel with calcium-containing materials. Calcium-containing wire consists of calcium-containing filler and steel shell, longitudinal edges of which are connected by welding, wherein steel shell has thickness of up to 3.0 mm, is in annealed condition and has hardness of not more than 40 HR15N.
EFFECT: invention increases absorption of calcium in metallurgical melt by increasing heat of heating and melting material of shell and filler, as well as reducing its deformation when introducing into metallurgical melt.
