SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used for ultrasound diagnostics of intracranial hypertension. For this, an ultrasound examination of the intraorbital part of the optic nerve is performed in B-mode. First, an axial scan of the intraorbital part of the optic nerve in the orbit is performed along the horizontal and vertical planes, placing the ultrasound sensor transpalpebrally when fixing the patient's gaze directly or paracentrally - at 3 o'clock on the right and at 9 o'clock on the left when the patient is looking inside. At 3 mm from the posterior pole of the eye, the thickness of the optic nerve with sheaths (TONS) and without sheaths (TONWS) is determined and their ratio to K and with a value of K equal to 2.0 or more, intracranial hypertension is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method provides simplicity and availability of early diagnosis of intracranial hypertension before the formation of a stagnant optic nerve head.
