FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the electrical industry and can be used in manufacture of open flooded lead accumulators. According to the invention, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene with the addition of polyacrylonitrile fibre is used as the material of the separator of the lead accumulator. The application of polyacrylonitrile fibre with a highly developed surface and a high sorption capacity relative to antimony ions as part of the separator reduces the concentration of said ions in the electrolyte and, therefore, the negative impact thereof on the operation of the accumulator.
EFFECT: significant reduction in the rate of release of hydrogen from the accumulator; increase in the efficiency of use of the charging current and reduction in the duration of charging of the accumulators; reduction in the volume of routine works in the maintenance of the accumulators included in a battery; reduction in the release of the toxic gas stibine (SbH3).
