FIELD: ophthalmology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to silicon hydrogels obtained from reaction mixtures containing three-block prepolymer and ophthalmological devices made of them. Three-block prepolymer is proposed, having a chemical structure [A]-[B]-[C], containing at least one monovalent reactive group, where segments [A] and [C] independently contain polymer segments formed of hydrophilic monomer selected from hydroxy-substituted (meth)acrylates and acrylamides, and [B] is a polymer chain segment formed of polydimethylsiloxane with terminal mono-n-butyl and monomethacryloxypropyl, wherein the specified three-block prepolymer contains at least one terminal monovalent reactive group, and where three-block prepolymer is formed using organotellurium-mediated living radical polymerization (TERP). These prepolymers can be used separately or in a combination with other components in reactive monomeric mixtures to manufacture silicon hydrogels and ophthalmological devices made of them, including contact lenses.
EFFECT: contact lenses made using the proposed three-block prepolymer show excellent combination of physical, mechanical and biological properties, including increased permeability of tear film components.
