FIELD: biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to silicone hydrogels having increased biocompatibility. Silicone hydrogel is proposed formed of a reaction monomer mixture containing: hydroxyalkyl(meth)acrylate monomer; silicone components containing a hydroxyl group; and polyamide, wherein polyamide is present in the amount of more than 15% by wt. per the total weight of reactive components in the reaction monomer mixture. A method for producing silicone hydrogel and contact lenses containing the proposed silicone hydrogel are also proposed.
EFFECT: proposed silicone hydrogels with high polyamide levels show excellent balance of physical, mechanical and biological properties.
