FIELD: ophthalmology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a compound of formula II, where EWG in each case represents cyano; n is either 1, 2 or 3; a R1 is independently H, C1-C 6 alkyl, C1-C6 alkoxy, C1-C6 thioalkyl, C3-C7 cycloalkyl, phenyl, halogen, hydroxy, amino, NR3R4, benzyl, SO3H or SO3M (M is a monovalent cation such as sodium or potassium) or -Y-Pg where R3 and R4 are independently H or C1-C 6 alkyl, Y in each occurrence independently represents either C1-C8 alkylene or C1-C8 oxaalkylene; and Pg at each occurrence is independently (meth)acrylate, (meth)acrylamide, N-vinyl lactam, N-vinylamide, or styryl; wherein the compound contains 1 or 2 -Y-Pg groups, which may or may not be the same. The invention relates to an ophthalmic device, which is a contact lens containing a compound of formula II according to the invention. The invention also relates to a contact lens based on the compound of formula II according to the invention.
EFFECT: compound having maximum absorption of visible light in the range of 430–480 nm and full width at half height (FWHM) at maximum absorption of visible light of at least 35 nm and up to 100 nm, moreover, the connection is light stable when measured in accordance with ICH Q1B guidance.
