FIELD: organic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to synthetic organic chemistry, namely to a method for producing melamine borate. The method for producing melamine borate is carried out in a paddle mixer by mixing boric acid and melamine, while melamine is mixed with boric acid at a temperature of 20 to 100°C for 20-30 minutes, then ammonium borate is added and the mixture is heated to a temperature of 200-300°C and kept for 30-90 minutes at a molar ratio of melamine/boric acid/ammonium tetraborate 1:0.25-1.6:0.25-1, followed by cooling and grinding.
EFFECT: proposed method makes it possible to produce melamine borate with a yield of at least 75%, with a decomposition start temperature above 300°C and a residual mass after calcination at 500°C of at least 40%, using a single apparatus, without the release of intermediate reaction products, as well as high water and energy consumption.
