SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fiber-optic communication technology and can be used to compensate for the dispersion of a single-mode fiber-optic communication line. According to the method for dispersion compensation of a single-mode fiber-optic communication line, linear optical amplifiers are periodically included in the fiber-optic communication line along its length, on which an optical fiber compensating for chromatic dispersion is included. At the same time, a modal demultiplexer and a modal multiplexer are sequentially connected between the cascades of linear optical amplifiers into a low-mode optical fiber, the outputs of the modal demultiplexer are connected to the corresponding inputs of the modal multiplexer through a serial connection of optical fibers with positive and negative chromatic dispersion for the corresponding mode in the operating wavelength range, and the lengths of these optical fibers, their parameters and distances between linear optical amplifiers are selected from the condition of minimizing differential mode delay, chromatic dispersion and losses on operating modes in the amplifying section at the output of a linear optical amplifier.

EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase the dynamic range for a single-mode fiber-optic communication line and reduce the requirements for computing resources at the reception at the end of the regeneration section.
