FIELD: video data encoding.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for video data encoding. Prediction information for the current encoding unit is identified. Prediction information contains the first prediction signal containing a set of sample values in the first reference unit, and the second prediction signal containing a set of sample values in the second reference unit. A difference in sample value prediction between the set of sample values in the first prediction signal and the set of sample values in the second prediction signal is calculated. It is determined, whether the first prediction signal and the second prediction signal are inappropriate based on the calculated difference in sample value prediction. The current encoding unit is recreated based on the determination of whether the first prediction signal and the second prediction signal are inappropriate. A bidirectional optical flow (BIO) is activated to specify prediction information for the current encoding unit based on the determination of that the first prediction signal and the second prediction signal are inappropriate.

EFFECT: increase in the encoding efficiency.
