FIELD: automotive industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of high-precision machining of alloy steel parts and the formation of special protective coatings on them and can be used in mechanical engineering and other industries for processing a wide range of machine parts and tools made of alloy steels. The method for forming a protective nitrided coating on the surface of a steel threaded shaft of a threaded connection of a device for balancing automobile wheels includes volumetric quenching and tempering of a steel threaded shaft blank and ion-plasma nitriding of the surface of a steel threaded shaft. The mentioned shaft blank is tempered to obtain volumetric hardness in the range of 35-40 HRC. Further, the final high-precision machining of the quenched and tempered workpiece of the threaded shaft is carried out to obtain a finished steel threaded shaft and its ion-plasma nitriding is carried out until the thickness of the protective nitrided coating is obtained in the range of 0.3-0.4 mm of increased hardness in the range of 55-65 HRC.
EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the service life of the coating in conditions of erosion and corrosion.
