FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and can be used for protection of electrical circuits from ultrashort pulses. Proposed is a microstrip line consisting of a reference conductor in the form of a conductive layer, a dielectric substrate on the reference conductor, and a signal conductor in the form of a strip on the substrate. Additionally introduced is a grounded conductor located on top over the substrate. The conductor is connected at the ends with the reference conductor. The length of the line is therein selected so that the product thereof by the difference of the linear delays of the line modes is greater than the duration of the ultrashort pulse occurring between the signal and reference conductors, and decomposition thereof into two pulses is ensured, and the height of the conductor over the substrate is selected so that the amplitudes of said pulses is equal.
EFFECT: possibility of protection against an ultrashort pulse, achieved due to the modal decomposition thereof.
