FIELD: nuclear power industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for replacing a cesium trap, including freezing a trap partially containing cesium and located in a shielded section. The cesium trap is then disconnected and removed from the shielded section. The second cesium trap is introduced into the shielded section and attached to it. The cesium trap contains a case having an upper part and enclosing a filter and active material made with the possibility of removing cesium from a sodium stream, a cooling jacket placed essentially around the case, and at least one first sodium line passing from the specified upper part. At least one first sodium line is made with the possibility of connecting downstream with the corresponding at least one second sodium line of a sodium-processing circuit.
EFFECT: possibility of removing the loaded cesium trap from the sodium-processing circuit and its shielded section and replacing it with another new empty cesium trap without direct access to radioactive cesium, while reducing the time of removal and replacement of the trap and reducing the radiation exposure to the personnel performing the replacement.
