SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a smoking article, a method of manufacturing a mouthpiece of a smoking article, and a mouthpiece for a smoking article. The smoking article comprises a tobacco rod and a mouthpiece attached to the end of the tobacco rod located further downstream. The mouthpiece comprises: a tubular element forming a longitudinal channel, wherein the tubular element is provided adjacent to the end of the tobacco rod located further downstream; a segment of the filtering material located further downstream, wherein the segment of the filtering material located further downstream is located further downstream from the tubular element and is at a distance from the tubular element, forming a cavity between the tubular element and the segment of the filtering material located further downstream; and an extinguishing element. The extinguishing element comprises: a compressible reservoir located in the cavity and containing a liquid; a narrowing part passing upstream from the reservoir and provided with an open end, wherein the narrowing part is placed in the longitudinal channel of the tubular element so that the open end is located near the end of the tobacco rod located further downstream; and sealing means located over the open end of the narrowing part.
EFFECT: effective extinguishing of the burning tobacco rod after use is ensured by destroying the sealing means over the open end of the narrowing part and releasing the liquid from the reservoir directly into the tobacco rod.
