FIELD: aerosol-generating devices.
SUBSTANCE: aerosol-generating item for producing an inhalable aerosol upon heating comprises: an aerosol-generating substrate rod; a mouthpiece segment containing an insert of filter material; and a tubular support member at a location between the shaft and the mouthpiece segment. The tubular support element is aligned in the longitudinal direction with the rod and the mouthpiece segment, is located directly in the direction of flow relative to the rod, and forms at least one channel for air flow establishing fluid communication between the rod and the mouthpiece segment. The tubular support element contains a cylindrical peripheral wall, a part of the material of the tubular support element protruding inward and limited at the end of the tubular support element located earlier in the direction of the flow by at least one surface located at a distance from the transverse plane tangent to the surface of the earliest located in the direction of the flow end of the peripheral wall. The aerosol-generating article further comprises a recess formed by the tubular support element. The said recess is located between the surface of the end of the rod located further downstream and the surface of the end of the tubular support element located upstream of the flow. The recess has a length that is less than 10 percent of the total length of the aerosol-generating article. At least one air flow channel extends in the longitudinal direction from the downstream end of the recess to the mouthpiece segment. The cross-sectional area of the recess varies along the length of the recess.
EFFECT: facilitated manufacture of the product, as well as in increased efficiency and speed of delivery of the aerosol to the consumer during use.
