FIELD: smoking devices.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an aerosol-generating apparatus configured to generate an inhalable aerosol by heating a substrate, such as a tobacco-containing smoking material or a non-tobacco material for forming glycerin and propylene glycol. The apparatus comprises a body for accommodating the substrate and a pyrometer for determining the temperature of the heated target surface inside the body of the apparatus. The pyrometer constitutes a two-wave pyrometer or a multi-wave pyrometer configured to measure the heat emission in a first wavelength range and a second wavelength range, wherein the second wavelength range is greater than the first wavelength range. The pyrometer therein comprises an optical system for collecting heat emission emitted from the heated target surface, wherein the optical system comprises a lens with a scattering surface.
EFFECT: reliable, quick, and reproducible tracking of the temperature of the heating process used to form an aerosol.
