FIELD: encoding/decoding technologies.
SUBSTANCE: inventions group relates to technologies for encoding/decoding a sequence of images. An image coding device for coding a sequence of images is proposed. The device contains the following modules: prediction, transformation, quantization, encoding. The prediction module generates, for the target block to be encoded, having a predetermined size in the image, the predicted image from both the inner prediction image obtained through the intra prediction processing and the outer prediction image obtained through the outer prediction processing, and obtain prediction errors, which represent the difference between the target block and the predicted image. The quantization unit obtains a quantization matrix to be used to quantize transform coefficients obtained by the transform unit using at least one of a predefined quantization matrix for intra prediction and a predetermined quantization matrix for external prediction.
EFFECT: providing improved image quality by enabling quantization processing using a quantization matrix corresponding to the internal/external prediction.
