SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of embossing foil materials by means of interacting rolls containing structured surfaces. Proposed are a method and apparatus for embossing individually light-reflecting areas on a foil material, said method and apparatus include feeding the foil material into the contact area between a pair of rolls, wherein the pair of rolls comprises a first roll and a second roll, providing, on the corresponding surfaces of each of the first roll and the second roll, at least within a preset perimeter, multiple positive polyhedral protrusions and multiple negative protrusions complementary to the positive protrusions, respectively, wherein the multiple positive protrusions are arranged in accordance with a two-dimensional grid. The multiple positive polyhedral protrusions link with the corresponding negative protrusions unobstructedly and without gaps during target embossing of the foil material, providing a possibility of producing a polyhedral shape on the foil, embossed with uniform closure. In order to provide multiple reflective areas on the foil material, intended for reflecting light according to the table of values of reflection coefficients for a two-dimensional grid, in accordance with the orientation and shape of each of the multiple reflective areas and allowing the user to visually perceive the light reflected in a certain manner with a predetermined wide viewing angle, covered by light reflected from any of the reflective areas, the method includes a stage wherein for each of the multiple provided reflective areas the orientation and shape of the corresponding positive projection intended for embossing a reflective area is adjusted in the two-dimensional grid.

EFFECT: possibility of embossing foil materials by means of rolls.
