SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to embossing tools for packaging material, for example, packaging foil and paper, to applying a code to packaging material by embossing, as well as to methods and devices for reading such codes. An embossing tool for stamping a combined embossed pattern on the packaging material, and this combined embossed pattern includes a decorative embossed pattern and a set of embossed codes containing a male-female embossing device with a punch and a matrix for interacting with each other, having embossing structures made with the possibility of creating a combined embossed pattern on the packaging material in the gap for embossing, and these embossed structures include the first structures representing the specified set of embossed codes, and the second structures representing the specified decorative embossed pattern, and by means of embossed structures, it is possible to create the specified decorative embossed pattern and a plurality of embossed codes, which are arranged so that a plurality of embossed codes overlap or are interspersed with a decorative embossed pattern within a surface area, as a result of which a plurality of embossed codes is less detectable and noticeable than decorative embossed pattern, at the same time, these first structures of embossing structures are made with the possibility of forming the specified set of embossed codes in the form of a matrix on the packaging material.
EFFECT: creating a method and device for stamping codes and embossed patterns on packaging material, for example, among others, on packaging foil, while these codes are made with the possibility of encoding identification information, authenticating identification information applied to packaging foil by means of such codes with reduced visibility to the human eye.
